Atlanta resident and former beauty advisor Ebony Ford has sparked a lively online conversation about the growing number of affluent Black women in the city.
Responding to social media posts questioning why so many Black women in Atlanta appear to be financially successful, Ford offered her take on why the city has seen a rise in affluent Black women.
Ford, who has a background in finance and has worked in roles ranging from beauty advisor for luxury brands Chanel and Lancôme to assistant branch manager at Flagstar Bank, highlighted the influence of wealthy Black men investing in Black women’s success.
“There are so many rich Black men in Atlanta, and if you’re an attractive Black woman here, don’t act like some rich Black man hasn’t invested in you or your business,” she said in a video on Instagram that has since gone viral.
Addressing both men and women, Ford argued that financial backing from Atlanta’s affluent Black men has contributed to the success of many women in the city.
She encouraged women to acknowledge the support they receive, urging them to stop acting like they did it on their own, “like you got it out the mud.”
She also called out men who criticize others for investing in women, saying:
“Men, stop calling them simps. If he’s got the money and he wants to invest, he’s doing it.”
Ford’s candid remarks triggered a storm of reactions in the comments section.
One person commented:

Another person who disagreed with Ebony Ford’s perspective urged her to “stop”:
“Statistics says the average black woman in Atlanta makes:
Ages 20-29 $28,000
Ages 30-39 $46,700
Ages 40-49 $51,600
Ages 50-59 $49,300″
Another commenter said she has not found a rich man willing to help her:
“Nah sis. I wish. Help me find a lil partner or something lol 😂”
