Another woman has come out in an exclusive feature story about the backlash shunned ex-ABC anchor TJ Holmes has faced since news broke that he was involved in a dalliance with his co-anchor Amy Robach.
This woman (who would be the fifth one exposed if the allegations are true) said that both she and Holmes worked overnight shifts when she was a budding journalist at ABC back in 2014. She spoke to The Cut on anonymity.
She went into detail about how their affair began when the Arkansas-born TV personality asked her for help signing up for an Instagram account and quickly became flirty with her.
“I’m learning a lot about you. I might actually like you,” she recalls him writing in an email to her. What transpired was months of back-and-forth texts and said that his charm was “intoxicating,” so when he invited her to visit him at a hotel in New York’s Upper West Side, she accepted.
“When she walked into the room, he was sitting on the bed,” the outlet reported.
When Daily Mail exposed Holmes and Robach’s affair, she said she began to question her relationship with the 45-year-old, who was married at the time.
She acknowledged that at the time when she could feel that their relationship was beginning to wither away, she was “heartbroken” and felt like a “throwaway object,” partly because he was promoted to co-anchor Good Morning America and didn’t tell her. They would text intermittently from then on. She said that the final straw for her was when she asked him out for tea, but he didn’t respond for a couple of days. When he did, she replied, “I’m pretty sure you only text me when you need attention. And then otherwise I don’t really matter.”
His final response to her was “Goodnight.”
In a now-cringe Instagram post Holmes uploaded to celebrate his 10th wedding anniversary with his wife, he wrote “…despite my best efforts, [my wife] remained married to me the past 10 years. That’s not hyperbole. I’m not being dramatic. I gave her plenty of reasons, excuses, and opportunities to walk her fine ass out the doooooooor. But instead, with her built-in black woman superpower, she showed a grace and patience that’s incomprehensible.”
He has since filed for divorce.
