Isha Sesay, Berla Mundi, Thami Nkadimeng, Among Others Scheduled to Appear at Global Citizen NOW 2024

Berla Mundi, Djimon Hounsou, Isha Sesay, Osi Umenyiora, Thami Nkadimeng, Andrew Zimmern, Jordan Fisher, Padma Lakshmi, Tom Colicchio, and Sarah, Duchess of York are among the notable figures joining this year’s Global Citizen NOW summit. The event, held in New York City on May 1st and 2nd, brings together leaders from various fields to address urgent global challenges such as extreme poverty.

Joining them are distinguished individuals including Stephen Harper, former Prime Minister of Canada, Eloy Terena and João Paulo Capobianco from Brazil’s Ministry of Indigenous Peoples and Ministry of Environment respectively, Gilbert F. Houngbo from the International Labour Organization, and Guillaume Grosso from CGIAR.

The lineup also features personalities like Eric Adjepong, Juju Chang, Caroline Cimenti, Ineza Umuhoza Grace, and many more, representing diverse sectors such as advocacy, media, and philanthropy.

In addition, the Global Citizen Prize award ceremony will be graced by Bridget Moynahan, Stephan Moccio, and C.D. Glin, highlighting the importance of global initiatives for social impact.

Hosted by Global Citizen, the summit aims to spur action towards fulfilling basic human needs, addressing climate change, and promoting economic development and innovation. The discussions will be livestreamed globally, enabling millions to participate in real time and contribute to shaping a better future for all.

Additional participants in the summit include Chris Anderson, Head of TED; Helder Barbalho, Governor of Pará; Alain-Richard Donwahi, President of COP15; Dana Canedy, Managing Editor of The Guardian US; Janja Lula da Silva, the First Lady of Brazil; Dr. Sania Nishtar, CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; and Brian Tippens, Senior Vice President and Chief Social Impact Officer at Cisco.

The summit will also feature the Global Citizen Prize 2024 award ceremony, hosted by CBS News national correspondent and co-host of CBS Mornings, Vladimir Duthiers. The ceremony will include appearances by the Honorable Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Bahamas; media personality and entrepreneur Brooklyn Peltz Beckham; media personality and Global Citizen Advocate Berla Mundi; CEO of EIB Network and Empire Group, Nat Kwabena Adisi (Bola Ray); and Latin superstar and Grammy-nominated artist Rauw Alejandro. Live musical performances will be delivered by four-time Grammy-nominated country superstar Mickey Guyton, and violinist and composer Ezinma.
