Three Virginia children reported missing after a suspected kidnapping last Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, morning have been found safe, prompting the cancellation of an Amber Alert.

The children—10-year-old Jai’Marcus Lewis, 8-year-old Ja’Miyah Lewis, and 6-year-old Ja’Liyah Lewis—were located unharmed hours after being abducted from their bus stop in Fishersville, Virginia.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the children’s estranged mother, 35-year-old Shanice Davison, was taken into custody in Birmingham, Alabama.

Davison faces abduction charges after being apprehended by the Alabama Highway Patrol and U.S. Marshals following a brief pursuit on Interstate 495.

Authorities say the children were waiting for their school bus outside the Bobby’s Way apartment complex when a black four-door vehicle arrived and took them. Deputies responded to a 911 call from their parent at 8:27 a.m., which led to the issuance of the Amber Alert.

Davison, who resides in Evergreen, Alabama, was identified as the suspect in the abduction early in the investigation. By late afternoon, law enforcement successfully tracked her vehicle and recovered the children.

At the time of their abduction, Ja’Miyah and Ja’Liyah were wearing pink jackets, while Jai’Marcus was dressed in a black and dark blue jacket with neon zippers.

The quick resolution was made possible by the collaborative efforts of the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, Alabama Highway Patrol, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
