Westchester County Police have confirmed that Ariiela Lalangosta — widely rumored to be the girlfriend of rapper 6ix9ine — was found dead inside a vehicle on the Cross County Parkway in Mount Vernon early Sunday morning, Aug. 17.
Authorities say the 25-year-old Influencer was discovered slumped behind the wheel of a car on the eastbound side of the parkway near Exit 7 at around 8 a.m., following reports of a disabled vehicle.
Responding officers quickly determined that her death was the result of gun violence.
“There is reason to believe the woman was targeted,” Westchester County Police Chief of Department James Luciano told News 12. While details remain limited, officials confirmed that Lalangosta died from a gunshot wound to the head.
The shocking discovery came just before she was reportedly set to travel for a planned trip to Puerto Rico. Loved ones have since taken to social media, remembering her as a “beautiful soul taken far too soon.”
Investigators are working closely with local, state, and federal partners to retrace Lalangosta’s final hours.
Authorities stressed that the killing appears to have been an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat to the community.
Speculation has swirled online that her death may be tied to alleged street connections linked to those in her circle. Police, however, have not publicly confirmed a motive.
