Students Without Mothers, Inc. (SWM), is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping high school students without mothers.
The organization has just announced their brand new fundraising program: the Chairman’s Circle and the Director’s Circle donor groups. Funds raised from these two groups will be used to ensure a minimum number of scholarship awards each year, eliminating the uncertainty of total dependence on year-to-year fundraising.
SWM’s are on a mission to guarantee ten scholarships at first, but organizers certainly expect that number to grow. The combination of the new program plus current yearly fundraising efforts will make a big difference in addressing a huge need.
Don Roman, Board Chair, spoke about the initiative:
“This is an important milestone in the history of Students Without Mothers, Inc. The enhancement of our fundraising program plus our increased programming will help ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization. We are determined to reach a larger percentage of the students needing our help. These students face one of life’s greatest tragedies — the loss of one’s mother during childhood. With the help of the community, we can help them overcome this tragedy so that they can achieve the education so critical to leading healthy and productive lives.”
Under the program, Circle members will commit to annual pledges, 100% of which will be allocated to the SWM Scholarship Fund. The Chairman’s Circle will consist of those donors making a donation of $5,000 or more per year. The Director’s Circle will consist of those donors making a minimum donation of $1,000 per year.
Chairman’s Circle donations will cover a full, four-year scholarship (four annual stipends of $1,000 each) plus funding for a proposed Emergency Fund as well as a new Christmas/Birthday Gift Card program for students. Director’s Circle donations will cover one annual stipend.
