Michelle Obama is one of the coolest first ladyâs to ever step foot in the white house, and itâs no surprise at how many people love and admire her. Obama has been an advocate for so many things such as ending childhood obesity along with speaking out against racism and sexual assault. The former first lady has done so much for this country, and itâs gotten many (including myself) hoping that she runs for president in 2020.
For months there have been rumors swirling around about the possibility of her and Oprah Winfrey running in this upcoming election and even though the two have shut down the possibility the rumors continued. As much as we would love to keep hope alive itâs looking like another Obama in the White House isnât going to happen anytime soon.
Last Thursday Michelle spoke at the 39th Annual Simmons Leadership Conference, and when asked about possibly running she said, âThe reason why I donât want to run for presidentâand I canât speak for Oprahâbut my sense is that, first of all, you have to want the job.â She then goes on to saying that in order to be president you have to want the job and you have to have a passion for politics. âIâve never had the passion for politics,â Obama said. âI just happened to be married to somebody who has the passion for politics, and he drug me kicking and screaming into this arena.â
So sadly we wonât get the Obamas back, but we do respect her honesty, and hopefully, weâll get another president whoâs like her in the near future.
