During a sit-down on The Pettyish Podcast, Torrie Hart addressed social gossip about why she insists on being a Hart even when there is a new Mrs in the comedian’s life.
The mother of two came under criticism for touring with Katt Williams while bearing Kevin’s last name. Some fans called her “disloyal” for moving with someone who had publicly talked down on the Hart name.
Remember that Katt Williams dissed Kevin Hart and others in the “Club Shay Shay” interview. Williams questioned the credibility of Hart’s rise to stardom and his narrative about being a self-made artist. Williams called the “Ride Along” star an industry “plant” who was hand-picked by Hollywood studios.
After signing up for Katt Williams’s Dark Matter tour, Torrei Hart is still adamant about dropping the Hart name.

“Well, because I’ve built a career with this name. And like I said, my maiden name was Skipper. Do you know how many jokes got cracked on me growing up being Torrie Skipper? You know, Skipper is cute, don’t get me wrong. Shout out to my daddy and momma,” Kevin Hart’s ex-wife disclosed.
Torrei insisted that she is still legally a “Hart” and that Kevin has never asked her to change it.
She also pointed out that she’s supported the brand from the start.
“But you know, I like Hart better. I do. It is what it is. It’s my name,” Torrei Hart continued. “I’ve built the brand around my name. I was there from the beginning helping build the brand name, Hart.”
