Afro-Latina rapper Melii releases her new music video for “Way Too Soft,” directed by Des Gray (known for her visual work with Toosii2x, Rick Ross, YFN Lucci, Mulatto, Trippie Redd, Davido, Chris Brown, Future, Lil Baby, and Young Jeezy.)
In the video, Melii takes center stage as a “glammed up prima donna to sultry femme fatale, a gangsta flick replete with martial arts, poker games, and robbery.”
A story of heartbreak, “Way Too Soft,” is an all too familiar tale many can relate to.
“Everybody has a broken side. I no longer work off ego. I’m true to self. I’ve grown so much, I have times where I do fall off and ego kicks in, but I’ve learned how to manage my life a lot better,” says Melii.
Melii’s 2017 remix to Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” went viral, pulling in an impressive two million views on YouTube. That year, Melii signed to Interscope.
Speaking to PEOPLE last year, Melii revealed what she wants listeners to take away from her music.
“My whole thing is to always be transparent with whoever is listening to me and whoever is supporting me. I feel like I’m a very unpredictable person, so my music speaks that for itself.”
“There will be more vulnerability and just [allowing my fans] to know deeper things about me. There are going to be things that you’re not going to expect,” she tells the publication.
