Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese is proving once again that her hustle goes beyond the hardwood.

The WNBA rookie, who has become one of the most talked-about athletes since being drafted seventh overall in 2024, is reclaiming a term meant to mock her—and turning it into a business opportunity.

The term “mebounds” recently went viral online after critics attempted to downplay Reese’s elite rebounding skills by suggesting she only grabs rebounds for herself. Rather than take offense, Reese flipped the script in a TikTok video shared with her nearly 6 million followers, turning the term into a potential six-figure brand.

“Whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing… y’all ate that up,” Reese said. “Because mebounds, crebounds, keybounds, tebounds… anything that comes off that board… IT’S MINE.”

In the video, Reese made it clear she has plans to capitalize on the term by working with her agent to pursue brand partnerships, and even hinted at filing a trademark. She doubled down on her intent in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

✅😉 #thankyaaaa” and tagging her agent Jeanine Juliano, along with a link to the term “mebounds.”

From Criticism to Capital

Reese, a former NCAA champion and record-setting rookie, has been subjected to relentless criticism throughout her young career—from layup percentages to media bias. But her dominance on the boards has never been in question. She recently became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 500+ points and 500+ rebounds.

Instead of letting online trolls steal the narrative, Reese is turning negative energy into strategic gains. She said it best:

“When y’all came up with mebounds… y’all ate.”

By claiming and monetizing the insult, Reese is setting a new standard for athletes, leveraging criticism as fuel for personal branding and financial success.
