Doja Cat is once again trending after accusing a fan of “manhandling” her during a recent interaction that was caught on video.

The now-viral clip shows Doja smiling and chatting with a male fan, who gifts her a t-shirt from his clothing line. In the video, the fan hugs and kisses her during the brief exchange. While the moment appears friendly at first glance, Doja later revealed it felt anything but.

In the clip, Doja embraced Tamayo, kissed his cheek, and allowed him to refer to her as “Ami.” He presented her with the white tank top he was wearing, which she appeared to appreciate at that moment.

In a since-deleted X (formerly Twitter) post shared on Friday (June 13), Doja opened up about how the interaction made her uncomfortable despite how it might have looked on camera.

“Bottom line is I’ll smile at you, but it doesn’t mean I fk w you,” she wrote. “And don’t touch me and manhandle me when you don’t even fkin know me. IYKYK. I honestly think I need to stand up for myself in the moment sometimes. And he didn’t even know my f**kin name… to be touching and kissing me on my face like that is crazy.”

That tweet didn’t stay up for long, but it was enough to set social media ablaze.

As the clip spread, fans were divided. Some came to Doja’s defense, echoing her point about the need for personal boundaries, especially in situations where fame blurs the line between admiration and entitlement. Others, however, felt the video didn’t match her reaction. “She didn’t look uncomfortable at all,” one commenter wrote. “If it was that bad, why didn’t she say something right there?”

Doja later admitted that she was “very drunk” during the encounter and reiterated that, regardless of her outward expression, she felt violated by the unexpected physical contact.

Meanwhile, the fan at the center of it all is speaking out, too—and he’s pushing back against the narrative. In response to the backlash, he shared his side of the story, claiming the entire interaction was lighthearted and mutual.

“I would’ve never wanted to make her uncomfortable. I would have never filmed if she hadn’t said yes. That video that we filmed was after everything,” he said in part. “I understand that she has to set her boundaries. She’s a celebrity. I’m not. I will never understand that, so I value that. I appreciate it, and I get that.”

He also questioned whether Doja’s public reaction was motivated by something else, adding, “Why am I the punching bag? Nothing happened other than her liking my shirt, and I offered to give it to her… This just shows me I guess not everybody is who they show to be in person.”

Where do you stand? Was this an innocent fan moment gone wrong or a valid callout of boundary-crossing behavior? Let the comments roll.
