When Dystany Spurlock took to the track on June 20 at the Virginia NHRA Nationals, she didn’t just compete—she made history.
As only the second Black woman ever to race in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class, Spurlock joined the ranks of trailblazer Peggy Llewellyn, forging a path for women of color in one of the most elite and underrepresented corners of motorsports.
Backed by Foxxtecca, a media and mobility company committed to culture and equity, Spurlock’s debut represents more than speed—it marks a shift in visibility, access, and inclusion at the top level of drag racing.
“We’re not shying away from the DEI conversation; we’re embracing it fully,” said Chris Harris, co-founder of Foxxtecca per Black News. “Dystany checks every box. She has the talent, the tenacity, and the story. That’s why we chose to invest in her ourselves.”

Spurlock’s entry onto the national stage was in collaboration with Arana Racing, the powerhouse father-son team of Hector Arana Sr. and Hector Arana Jr. The partnership, which unites Black and Hispanic excellence, signals a cultural moment long overdue in a sport still working toward representation.
“This moment has been years in the making,” Spurlock said. “I’ve faced every kind of roadblock imaginable, but I never stopped chasing this dream. I’m proud to represent my community, and I hope my presence inspires the next generation to dream big.”

Though many companies passed on sponsoring Spurlock’s leap into the pro ranks, Foxxtecca—led by Harris and Kellie Crawford—refused to wait for permission. Instead, they made the call to fund her journey themselves. The goal? To show the world what’s possible and to attract larger sponsors to support a full-time campaign in 2026.
Spurlock’s performance during the June 20–22 event at Virginia Motorsports Park is expected to draw widespread media attention, as well as support from fans inspired by her tenacity and trailblazing spirit.
