The internet can’t decide whether Justin Bieber’s “Sweet Spot” collab with Sexyy Red is a vibe or a total misfire.
Justin Bieber just dropped his new album, SWAG, and while the surprise release has fans buzzing, it’s one particular collaboration that has the internet in an absolute frenzy: Sexyy Red’s verse on the track “Sweet Spot”! The unexpected pairing has sparked a massive debate, with many fans asking, “What was Justin Bieber thinking?!”
On July 11, Bieber made his return to the music scene with a surprise album drop titled SWAG, featuring 21 brand-new tracks. But while the project was supposed to mark a smooth comeback, one song in particular, “Sweet Spot,” has social media in a headlock. And it’s all thanks to Sexyy Red’s verse.
Let’s rewind for a second. Just hours after the album hit streaming platforms, Bieber posted a video to Instagram showing himself and Sexyy Red dancing to the track. The vibe? Very smoky, very faded, and very much giving “we just did this on the spot.” At one point, Sexyy twerks and lip-syncs her part while Bieber plants a kiss on her temple and bobs along, clearly enjoying the moment. The caption read:
“Love you friendddd.”

Even Hailey Bieber liked the post, which only added more fuel to the viral fire.
But while Bieber and Sexyy were in their carefree bag, the internet was not amused.
The reactions came in hot and honestly, hilarious.
“I just want to know what Justin Bieber was thinking when he decided to get Sexyy Red on Sweet Spot. Was he even thinking?”
“Justin needs to drop the solo version. The song had the potential to be a global hit. Sexyy Red ruined it big time.”
“Why would you put her on a New Edition sample? The disrespect!”
Others were more dramatic:
“BREAKING MY SILENCE: Sexyy Red’s verse on Sweet Spot does not bother me… because we STILL move.”
Built on a sample that clearly tugs at the nostalgia of ’90s R&B lovers, “Sweet Spot” had all the makings of a crossover hit. Bieber’s vocals float effortlessly, with a smooth, throwback feel. But when Sexyy Red jumps in, the vibe does a complete 180 with a raw, raunchy, and unfiltered vibe in true Sexyy Red fashion.
And while some fans enjoy the contrast, many feel like it was a mismatch.
“Sexy Redd ruined Justin Bieber’s song. Can he release Sweet Spot without her?” one X (formerly Twitter) user asked, echoing the sentiment of dozens more.
Still, despite the backlash, SWAG is getting major streams, and like it or not, “Sweet Spot” is one of the most talked-about tracks on the album.
