Journalist Dee Barnes took to social media to weigh on on a judge’s decision to deny an emergency restraining order to Nicole Young, the estranged wife of Dr. Dre.

Barnes tweeted: “This news triggered me. I was also denied restraining order after being brutally assaulted and receiving threats from #DrDre. I’m logging off need a mental health break.”

Young filed for a restraining order against her famous ex, claiming that she had received death threats. She alleged that she is in fear of her life. The judge cited a lack of evidence as to his reason for not granting the order.

Dre also rapped about the divorce in an unreleased song previewed by DJ Silk on his Instagram Live.

“Trying to kill me with them lies and that perjury,” Dre raps. “ICU/I see you tryna f*ck me while I’m in surgery. … You know we don’t tolerate that nonsense/By any means get your hand out of my pocket.”

Dr. Dre physically assaulted Barnes after approaching her about an interview she did with Ice Cube. Dre took exception to the interview, claiming Cube trashed him.

Speaking to Rolling Stone in 1991, Barnes said that “Dre picked her up” and “began slamming her face and the right side of her body repeatedly against a wall near the stairway.” Dre then repeatedly kicked her in the ribs and punched her in the head.

After the interview went live, Dre issued the following apology:

“I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives. … Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life,” his statement reads. “However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way. I’m doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again.”
