Missing Texas Woman Found in Scottish Forest Living With A ‘Lost Tribe’: ‘Leave Me Alone, I’m an Adult’

A Texas woman who was reported missing by her family has resurfaced in Scotland—living as a “handmaiden” in a self-proclaimed kingdom run by a couple who claim to be descendants of a lost African tribe.

The exact date when Kaura Taylor from Texas was reported missing is not clearly specified in available information. Many reports say her family reported her missing, but the specific date of the report remains unclear.

Kaura Taylor has recently been discovered in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire, about 40 miles south of Edinburgh, where she is serving King Atehene and Queen Nandi at their camp, which they call the “Kingdom of Kubala.”

The exact date when Kaura Taylor from Texas was reported missing is not known.

The pair—Ghana-born Kofi Offeh, 36, and Zimbabwe-born Jean Gasho, 42—say they are reviving a lost tribe of Hebrews who were displaced more than 400 years ago.

In a video message directed at UK authorities, Taylor insisted she is not in danger: “Obviously I am not missing. Leave me alone. I’m an adult, not a helpless child. I fled willingly from a very oppressive, a very abusive, very toxic and utterly wicked family structure.”

The group, which first settled on Scottish Borders Council property before being evicted, claim locals burned down their tents. They have since relocated near a school, with Atehene often spotted outside a local co-op to use Wi-Fi.

Kaura Taylor (right) now goes by the name Asnat.

Despite eviction notices and growing unease among residents, the Kubalans remain defiant, rejecting British law and insisting their settlement is rooted in prophecy. They claim Jerusalem is actually in Scotland, and that Atehene—who Gasho describes as the “Holy seed of David”—was foretold to lead the return of displaced tribes after 400 years.

“We connect to nature. We bathe in spring water. We rely daily on the creator for food, shelter, and clothing,” Atehene told SWNS. “The Kingdom of Kubala cannot be destroyed, for we are helped by the creator of the heavens and the earth.”

Their beliefs include the claim that black Jacobites were expelled from Scotland during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. In online videos, Gasho has hailed Atehene as “the King of the North, the Messiah” while declaring the dawn of a “Second Exodus.”

The Scottish Borders Council confirmed it has been coordinating with Police Scotland to monitor the situation. While some locals describe the Kubalans as “nice but unsettling,” others are frustrated by their refusal to accept housing offers or acknowledge UK law.

For now, the group says they will continue their mission to restore Kubala and bring other “lost tribes” back into the fold.
