Claressa Shields shook things up during a recent sit-down on The Breakfast Club, when things got a little spicy when the hosts tried to take Papoose on a trip down memory lane.
DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, and Loren LoLondon were deep in the weeds, discussing the legendary (and complicated) history between Pap and his ex, Remy Ma. They touched on everything from the courtroom drama to the years Pap spent holding it down while Remy was behind bars. But while the hosts were reminiscing, Claressa Shields was sitting right there, looking like she was ready to go twelve rounds.
The tension peaked when DJ Envy expressed his hope that Pap and Remy could “fix” things. If not the romance, then at least the friendship and co-parenting dynamic. Papoose seemed ready to lean into the nostalgia, but the “GWOAT” wasn’t having it.
Claressa immediately jumped in. She reminded everyone that healing takes time and doesn’t just happen overnight. More importantly, she dropped a major truth bomb that she and Papoose have been together for nearly two years. For Claressa, the constant focus on a “happily ever after” for Remy and Pap is old news that needs to be retired.
While Claressa took the lead, Papoose kept it classy. He chimed in to wish Remy the absolute best, making it clear there is no bitterness on his end. He hopes she finds peace and happiness, but he is equally firm that their paths have officially diverged. He confirmed that his relationship with Claressa will approach its second anniversary in September 2026.
Claressa didn’t hold back, expressing her frustration that Papoose is the only one constantly under the microscope. She pointed out that Remy has also moved on with someone new, so why is the world still harping on a marriage that ended years ago?
As expected, social media had a lot to say about the exchange. Critics felt Claressa overstepped by speaking on a marriage she wasn’t a part of, especially given the public friction between her and Remy earlier this year. They thought she should have let Papoose handle his own history.
On the flip side, her supporters are cheering her on. They see a woman standing up for her partner and refusing to let him be disrespected by “what-if” while she’s sitting right there.
Do you think she was out of line or just being a protective partner?
