Lizzo isn’t biting her tongue when it comes to Nicki Minaj’s latest political statements and appearance alongside Erika Kirk.

In a since-deleted TikTok clip that quickly made the rounds online, Lizzo weighed in after a fan asked her how she felt about Minaj’s increasingly vocal support of former President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

Lizzo opened with a pause. She made it clear that she doesn’t believe celebrity opinions about other celebrities should hold much weight, including her own. Still, she acknowledged that what’s happening right now feels bigger than one artist or one headline. To her, this moment is about a noticeable shift that fans should brace themselves for.

Nicki Minaj recently sparked intense debate after appearing at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix, where she took part in a Q&A session with conservative organizer Erika Kirk. During the appearance, Minaj spoke openly about politics, criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom, praised Trump and Vance, and revisited comments she made at the United Nations about the treatment of Christians in Nigeria. For many fans, the move felt unexpected. For Lizzo, not so much.

According to Lizzo, people shouldn’t be shocked if more celebrities follow a similar path. She suggested that the shift isn’t always ideological. Sometimes, it’s strategic. In her words, people are beginning to see which direction feels “more profitable” and “more beneficial,” and they’re moving accordingly.

She didn’t sugarcoat it either. Lizzo warned that fans are likely to feel disappointed as more public figures reveal political alignments that don’t sit well with their audiences. And she framed it as something that’s already underway, not a future possibility. Trump’s return to the White House, she implied, has created a climate where certain moves come with financial incentives and social privileges.

“There’s money behind everything,” Lizzo said, cutting straight to the point. To her, every public shift comes with access, protection, and perks that most people never see. That reality, she added, makes the trend less surprising, even if it’s still uncomfortable to watch.

For now, the clip may be gone, but the conversation it sparked isn’t going anywhere.
