In an Instagram post on Friday evening, four-time Grammy winner Lizzo revealed she’s quit music, citing her struggles with the relentless criticism she faces, both online and in her personal life.

Expressing frustration and exhaustion, the renowned singer-songwriter shared her feelings of being unfairly judged and misrepresented, ultimately declaring her decision to step back from the limelight.

“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet,” Lizzo wrote in her heartfelt message. “All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”

The emotional post highlighted the toll of constant scrutiny, with Lizzo lamenting being the subject of lies and ridicule, particularly regarding her appearance and character.

“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,” she shared.

Lizzo’s candid IG post received support from fellow celebrities, including comedian Loni Love and socialite Paris Hilton, who encouraged her to stay strong and resilient.

Lizzo’s Instagram statement coincides with ongoing legal battles.

In August, she faced lawsuits alleging mistreatment from former dancers, with accusations ranging from harassment to discrimination. Despite vehemently denying these claims, the lawsuits have added to the singer’s burdens.

Despite these challenges, Lizzo has continued to make public appearances, showcasing her resilience and talent.

She recently performed at President Biden’s campaign fundraiser and also graced the Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet.

Lizzo has remained a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
