by Gee NY

Rising singer Alexia Jayy has made history after winning Season 29 of The Voice, becoming the first Black woman to claim the top prize in the show’s 15-year run.

The 31-year-old vocalist secured the victory following weeks of standout performances that showcased her range and power, including renditions of songs by Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Adele.

A Historic Win

Jayy competed as part of Team Adam, delivering a long-awaited win for coach Adam Levine. The victory marks Levine’s first win since Season Nine and his fourth overall, tying him with Kelly Clarkson for the most wins by a coach in the show’s history.

“This was an unforgettable experience,” Jayy wrote in a message to fans following her win. “One I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

Celebration in Los Angeles

Jayy celebrated her victory with a live performance at the Blue Note, where she reflected on the moment her name was announced as the winner.

“A whole watch party for the finale … then hearing my name called,” she shared. “I got on that stage right after, poured my heart out.”

During the celebration, she also performed alongside Levine, including a duet of Sunday Morning by Maroon 5.

Levine praised his protégé, telling her she earned the win through her own talent and dedication. “You did this yourself,” he said. “She deserves all of it.”

What Comes Next

As the winner, Jayy receives a $100,000 cash prize and a recording contract with Universal Music Group—a major step forward in her music career.

Before joining the show, Jayy had already begun building her catalog independently, releasing singles and her EP Mixed Emotions in September 2025.

Breaking Barriers in Music

Jayy’s victory is being celebrated as a milestone moment, highlighting both her individual achievement and broader representation within mainstream music competitions.

With her powerful performances and historic win, Jayy now steps into the next phase of her career with strong industry backing and a growing fan base—signaling what many expect to be just the beginning of her rise in the music industry.
