Some “Real Housewives of New York” viewers feel that Eboni K. Williams is bringing too much common sense to the show and coming off as too “preachy.”
Eboni says she’s preachy and proud of it.
“My answer is simply this. A — I’m a little bit of a preacher and I wear that as a badge of honor. And I’m a little bit of a teacher too,” she said on a recent episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”
Eboni has brought race to the forefront of the show. Something which has made regular viewers a little uncomfy.
Eboni got into it with Ramona Singer over the Black Lives Matter movement. Ramona feels that Eboni could not feel oppressed because of how successful she is.
“You said you’ve suffered. I said, ‘Looking at you, I don’t think you suffer'” Ramona said during last Tuesday’s episode.
“But you’re living a great life, I don’t understand. I want to live your life … I want your life, b-tch. It’s real good.”
Ramona’s statement makes it clear why the franchise needed Eboni.
“Ramona’s saying something that a lot of people who look at me feel, which is you talk about Black Lives Matter and you talk about Black subordination of life, but I’m looking and I’m seeing a first-class existence.”
Ramona called Eboni “preachy” during their heated conversation about politics and race.
“I’m telling you that I want to have a real friendship with you, Ramona because I like you, but you can’t like me only when I say the things you want me to say,” the attorney said.
If Eboni does return for a second season, she might not have to deal with Ramona. There are reports circulating online that Ramona is about to be retired from the show following disappointing ratings this season.
