After 16 Years, Prime Suspect in Charline Rosemond’s 2009 Murder Arraigned; Pleads ‘Not Guilty’

Sixteen years after the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Charline Rosemond, the man accused of orchestrating her murder has been formally arraigned.

On Monday, May 13, 38-year-old Heinsky Anacreon pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in connection with the 2009 killing, which authorities now say was a planned robbery turned deadly.

According to Snohomish County prosecutors, Rosemond had withdrawn $4,100 in cash to purchase a used Lexus from two men she believed she could trust—Anacreon and Robert June, both of whom she knew from childhood.

She never returned home. Investigators say she was shot from behind through the driver’s side headrest, suffering a fatal head wound. The cash was stolen.

“We all grew up together with my sister Charline,” said her sister. “So I think it’s just heart-wrenching that these people were the same people we grew up with and that they would plot and plan to murder my sister.”

For years, the case remained unsolved due to a lack of evidence.

But prosecutors say that during a more recent phase of the investigation, Anacreon admitted to supplying the murder weapon, though the gun has never been recovered. In exchange for leniency, Anacreon agreed to cooperate against June, but ultimately violated that agreement by allegedly lying to investigators—a breach that led to his current indictment.

Authorities say Anacreon and June conspired to rob Rosemond and later celebrated her murder by drinking champagne. June died of natural causes in 2024, leaving Anacreon to face trial alone.

“I knew that this day would come,” said Rosemond’s sister following the arraignment. “But having to actually go through this new journey for justice now that someone’s going to have to answer to this charge is pretty difficult for me and my family. But we are ready for this ride.”

Anacreon remains in custody as court proceedings continue. A trial date has not yet been announced.
