‘All Those Years I Thought He Didn’t Want Me’: Woman Sheds Tears Talking About How Her Mom Cut Her Dad Off

by Gee NY

A deeply emotional revelation by social media influencer Nardose is gaining traction online, as she shared how a childhood belief about her father shaped her life, only to discover later it was not true.

“All those years I thought he didn’t want me,” she wrote in a viral Instagram post. “I carried that belief quietly into adulthood.”

A Childhood Marked by Waiting

In a video accompanying the post, Nardose recounted memories of waiting as a child for her father to pick her up — a routine that abruptly ended without explanation.

“I sat by the door, waiting and waiting,” she said. “He never showed up.”

For years, she believed that absence meant rejection, a feeling she says deeply affected her sense of self-worth.

Truth That Changed Everything

It was not until recently, as an adult, that Nardose learned from her grandmother that her father had not abandoned her. Instead, she said, he had been prevented from seeing her.

“Because all this time he was trying — and I didn’t know,” she shared.

The discovery has reshaped her understanding of her past, replacing one kind of pain with another.

Lasting Impact on Relationships

Nardose said growing up with the belief that her father did not love her influenced how she viewed relationships later in life.

“I would feel like the love was never enough,” she said, explaining that the emotional impact extended into adulthood and affected her ability to accept love.

She described the experience as something that “changed the trajectory” of her life.

Healing Through Honesty

Now in therapy, Nardose said confronting long-buried emotions has been overwhelming but necessary.

“Therapy has opened wounds I didn’t know were still bleeding,” she wrote.

She added that speaking openly about her experience has brought a sense of release. “Healing means telling the truth out loud.”

Choosing Forgiveness and Growth

Despite her pain, Nardose said she has chosen to forgive her mother and is working toward forgiving herself.

“I’ve forgiven my mother. One day I hope I can forgive myself too,” she wrote.

She also revealed plans to reconnect with her father’s legacy by returning to painting — a passion they once shared. “I’m going to start painting again… in memory of the man whose mind and creativity live inside of me.”

Sparking Wider Conversation

Her story has resonated widely online, prompting discussions about family separation, childhood trauma, and the long-term effects of unresolved emotional wounds.

Nardose said she hopes her vulnerability will help others who may be carrying similar pain.

“I believe you are as sick as your secrets,” she said. “And saying things out loud helps free you.”

Her message encapsulates a powerful truth: that healing often begins with understanding the past, even when that understanding comes years later.
