American Woman Fights Off Abductor After Alleged Hotel Kidnapping in Tunisia

by Gee NY

A U.S. traveler has gone viral after sharing a harrowing account of being abducted during a trip abroad, alleging that hotel staff failed to protect her or assist in the aftermath.

Meka, who posted her story on TikTok under the handle @meekmek08, said she and her friend, Queen, traveled to Tunisia and checked into The Penthouse Suites. What started as a fun getaway quickly turned into a nightmare.

According to Meka, the trouble began after a night out at a local club. She decided to leave early, returning to the hotel for rest. After collecting a replacement room key from the front desk, she stopped back in the lobby for toilet paper—then her memory went blank.

“The next thing I remembered was waking up in a car and physically fighting a man for my survival,” she said. Despite feeling drugged and disoriented, Meka said she fought back, escaped through a wooded area, and eventually found help from a taxi driver who brought her back to the hotel.

When she reported the incident to her friend and asked the hotel for security footage, she claims staff refused. Instead, they insisted she had been “snatched” from the club, despite her purse and phone being found inside her hotel room.

Meka alleged that the hotel grew cold toward her and Queen when they pressed for answers. She said management never checked on her after the ordeal, and the only time police were called was when staff accused Queen of being “disruptive.”

Now safely back in the United States, Meka says she is pursuing legal action against the hotel and is urging others to be vigilant when traveling abroad.

Her story has ignited discussions online about traveler safety, hotel accountability, and the risks women face abroad. Many social media users expressed outrage, calling the situation both “terrifying” and “unacceptable.”

“I’m African but there are countries you should avoid as a black woman unless you go in a group. Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt,” someone advised.

Another commented:

“I went Tunisia solo and it was so good untill it got BAD thank God I got out safe and you did too🤍.”
