Angel Reese’s clapback is seemingly directed at ex-LSU teammate Flau’jae Johnson’s mother.
Angel Reese graduated from LSU on Friday. She spent two seasons with the Tigers and led them to their first national championship.
According to an LSU news release, Reese received her degree in interdisciplinary studies on Friday. She focused on communication studies, leadership development, and psychology and minored in those subjects. She studied for two years at the University of Maryland before finishing her degree in four years.

A triumphant Reese posted on X, ‘So now what? What was said? Oh, okay, that’s what I thought. I graduated from THE LOUSIANA STATE UNIVERSITY IN 4 YEARS ON TIME’
She added: ‘I thought somebody without a college degree said sum.’
The mother of former LSU teammate Flau’jae Johnson appears to be the target of the retaliation.
Rumors circulated throughout her senior year that she wasn’t doing well in the classroom. As a result, she was benched at LSU for several games to begin the season.
In November, after Reese was unexpectedly benched early in LSU’s season, which head coach Kim Mulkey justified as a “coach’s decision,” Reese’s mother, Angel Webb Reese, started a Twitter back and forth with Johnson’s mother, Kia Brooks.
“Folks, pls do not send me long text msgs with a bunch of grammatical errors. It gives me a headache,” Reese’s mother wrote in an Instagram story.
Flau’jae Johnson’s mother clapped back, seemingly criticizing Reese’s academic background.
You definitely know about grammar errors when your daughter gets a 2.0 or less GPA. And in fact, when writing your smart message, you didn’t capitalize nor use any periods,” Brooks began in an Instagram story.
“Stop being petty, fake, and hateful. And take responsibility for you and your daughter’s actions,” she continued. “You’re just as responsible; you raised her that way. Nobody gives a damn who you think you are since you came up off another’s brand.”
“Just like God gave it to you, he will take it right away. Always stay humble and never forget who made you and where you came from!!”
Angel Reese shared her graduation photos on Saturday, along with a re-posting of a post on X from November 19 that mentioned Webb Reese and Brooks’ argument.
“LSU star basketball player Angel Reese has been suspended… it’s alleged that it’s due to a low GPA. The speculation began when Angel Reese’s mom and her teammate Flau’jae’s mom started reportedly beefing on social media,” the post from the Daily Loud said.
She also posted a social media comment her mother made, captioning it, “My momma said what she said,” on her Instagram story.
“For the most part, I think I did a good job in ignoring the naysayers when it comes to my children, so y’all can keep listening to those folks who do not even know what GPA even stands for, let alone have not sniffed a GPA since high school. I have a college degree, as well as my ex-husband (my kid’s father, for yall nosy folks), so yeah, we both set an example in that regard. Now y’all can find something else to talk about,” Webb Reese had written in the note.
On April 15, the 2024 WNBA draft saw the 2024 SEC Player of the Year selected with the seventh overall pick. On Wednesday, she debuted professionally.
