Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez addressed recent Republican criticism on social media, particularly targeting Vivek Ramaswamy’s response to comments made by the Kamala Harris campaign.
The exchange began when Ramaswamy took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday night, expressing his displeasure with what he perceived as a “weird” attack from Democrats.
Ramaswamy criticized the Democratic Party’s focus on calling Republicans “weird,” labeling it “dumb & juvenile.”
He argued that the upcoming presidential election is a serious political contest, not a “high school prom queen contest.”
Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, also pointed out the irony of such statements coming from a party that advocates for “diversity & inclusion.”
He concluded his post by urging Democrats to “win on policy if you can, but cut the crap please.”
In response, Ocasio-Cortez fired back on Tuesday morning, highlighting what she sees as the actual strangeness of Republican policies.
“It’s an incel platform, dude. It’s SUPER weird. And people need to know,” she posted.
The sharp retort comes amid growing criticism of Republicans, particularly towards figures like J.D. Vance and former President Donald Trump.
Vance has recently faced public ridicule for his campaign speeches and an unfounded rumor about him spread online. He also drew criticism for past comments comparing Democrats to “childless cat ladies,” which resurfaced and attracted attention from both celebrities and lawmakers.
Ramaswamy’s attempt to dismiss the criticisms appears to have backfired, as Ocasio-Cortez and others continue to challenge the rhetoric and policies of Republican figures.
This incident marks another instance where Ocasio-Cortez has publicly countered Ramaswamy, including a recent critique of his Republican National Convention speech where he attempted to portray Republicans as “cool.”
