Global Citizen Festival is clearly more than a mere music festival, this year’s event commemorates 100 years since the birth of Nelson Mandela.  It celebrated his lifetime of political and philanthropic work. The anti-poverty show featured a keynote address by Oprah Winfrey and performances by Beyonce, Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Chris Martin, Eddie Vedder, D’banj, Femi Kuti and Sho Madjozi.

You were able to stream live on YouTube and CNN and MSNBC showed the festival on their networks as well.

Eyes were specifically glued to Beyonce and Hov, On The Run performance. As we all know, they never disappoint. The  dynamic duo slayed with some  designer looks chosen by Beyoncé’s team of Zerina Ackers and Jenke Ahmed Tailly, plus Jay-Z’s longtime stylist June Ambrose.

Each segment of the performance included signature pieces that went with their songs.  A very special rendition of “Halo” with a local choir included a duet with Ed Sheeran. Beyonce wore an Ashi Studio gown with cascades of fuchsia tulle ruffles, while “Crazy in Love” called for a beaded Esteban Cortazar mini dress accented by jewelry in the style of traditional Ndebele neck rings. The neon yellow Versace catsuit topped off with an oversized hat complemented the anthemic “Run the World (Girls),” and an emerald Quiteria & George cape dress with a bodice covered in hundreds of crystals was apart of her finale.
