Beyoncé made history at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, taking home the award for Top Female Country Artist for her groundbreaking album, “Cowboy Carter.”

Beyoncé has added yet another milestone to her illustrious career, winning her first-ever country music award at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards held on December 12. The global icon was crowned Top Female Country Artist for her groundbreaking country album.

This win is a huge milestone not just for Beyoncé but also for the entire music industry. Earlier this year, her venture into country music received a mix of responses, particularly when she was snubbed by the Country Music Association Awards in September. However, Beyoncé has shown that her talent knows no limits. While some may have overlooked “Cowboy Carter,” Billboard recognized its significance, elevating Beyoncé into the ranks of country royalty.

Queen Bey emerged victorious over Megan Moroney, known for “Am I Okay,” and Lainey Wilson, who sings “Country’s Cool Again,” earning recognition for her release that included the popular country tracks “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold’ Em.” The latter song debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 100 and quickly climbed to the top position the following week. This achievement marks Bey’s ninth No. 1 on the chart and her first on Billboard’s multi-metric Hot Country Songs chart, making her the first Black woman to ever reach the top of this country hits list.

The Grammy-winning artist was also nominated for Top Dance/Electronic Artist and Top Country Album, showcasing her ability to dominate multiple genres. Her win in the country category makes her Billboard Music Awards tally soar to an impressive 17 career victories.

Beyoncé, who holds the record as the artist with the most Grammy wins in history at 32, has recently become the artist with the highest number of nominations after receiving 11 for her genre-defying album at the 2025 awards.

She earned nominations for Best Country Album, Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II Most Wanted” featuring Miley Cyrus, Best Country Song for “Texas Hold’ Em,” Best Country Solo Performance for “16 Carriages,” and Best Americana Performance for “Ya Ya.”
