It’s official. Queen Beyoncé has done it again with her magnum opus, RENAISSANCE, featuring a single that has sold more than one million units. The news of her debut track on the album, Break My Soul, makes the hit single certified platinum.
The feel-good, summertime anthem was released in June and became one of the year’s hottest records, clinching a RIAA-gold certified stamp of approval in August. At the time, she released a “Hive-Certified” visual featuring viral moments and reactions from fans.
“BREAK MY SOUL is Certified Platinum. Thank you so much for all the love and for releasing the wiggle,” the caption reads on YouTube.
The single also sets to be one of the top contenders during next year Grammy Awards, where it has been nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical.
Break My Soul swiftly climbed the charts topping Billboard’s Hot 100. The 41-year-old is the first woman in history to clinch at least 20 top 10 hits as a solo act and 10 or more top 10s as a group member on the chart,” according to VIBE. Earlier this year, the single won Song of the Year at the 2022 Soul Train Awards.
The Houston star’s latest album has been nominated for the 2023 Grammy Awards’ Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Album. There is speculation that the album will follow an acoustic album and collaborative record with Jay-Z. What we do know is that the I’m That Girl mega sensation will be going on the Renaissance world tour in the summer of 2023. The former Destiny’s Child singer broadcast the news during the Where Art Can Occur’s (WACO) fifth annual Wearable Art Gala in October. The tour is set to include “national and international destinations.”
The auction, starting at $20,000, included first-class plane tickets, a three-night hotel stay, two Renaissance concert tickets, and a guided backstage tour from Beyoncé’s mom and our auntie, Ms. Tina. Video from the event shows that bids started at $50,000. The winner has not been revealed, but sources say the package was auctioned off at $150,000.
