Rihanna’s California home became the scene of a frightening incident on Sunday after a woman allegedly fired multiple shots toward the property, leaving bullet damage to the front gate and an RV in the driveway.
Police later arrested a suspect after tracking her vehicle through the Los Angeles area.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire at about 1:21 p.m. Sunday at Rihanna’s residence in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood. A law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that the pop star was inside the mansion at the time the shots were fired.
Authorities said a 30-year-old woman fired several rounds from inside her vehicle toward the property. A round reportedly penetrated a wall of the colonial-style home. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Radio dispatch audio from the scene indicated that at least 10 shots were fired from a vehicle parked across the street from the property’s gate. After the gunfire, the vehicle, described as a white Tesla, drove south on Coldwater Canyon Drive.
Officers immediately began searching for the vehicle while sharing identifying details over the police radio. Dispatchers described the suspect as a woman with braided hair, wearing a cream-colored blouse, and noted that the Tesla appeared dirty along its lower portion.
A police helicopter soon located the vehicle and tracked it to a parking lot in the Sherman Oaks shopping center. Officers on the ground stopped the car and took the suspect into custody roughly 30 minutes after the initial 911 call.
“When they pulled the suspect over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings,” said LAPD spokesperson Armen Arias.
Investigators later discovered visible damage at Rihanna’s property. Police confirmed that bullets struck the gate to the home and an RV parked in the driveway.
Images released by NBC showed the front gate with visible bullet damage from the incident.
Rihanna reportedly lives at the property with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky. The couple share three young children, including a daughter and two sons. Authorities said it was not immediately clear whether anyone else was inside the home when the shooting occurred.
Police continue to investigate the incident following the suspect’s arrest.
