Cardi B is hitting the actual streets to sell her new projectAm I the Drama?”, dropping September 19, ditching the usual flashy billboards and streaming campaigns.

In a video that immediately went viral, Cardi B was spotted crouched on a New York City sidewalk, incense smoke floating beside her, with a blanket full of her CDs spread across the concrete like it’s 2005. She’s rocking a black hoodie, sweatpants, a colorful knit beanie, and cozy leopard-print slippers.

“$9.99!” she shouts with a grin, pointing at her array of album cover variants like a true mixtape hustler. On Instagram, she captioned the clip, “My label said I gotta get out in these streets and sell this album. LINK IN BIO.”

For longtime fans, the move hit deep. Cardi B first made her name through raw, unfiltered energy, a hustler’s spirit straight from the Bronx, and this moment feels like a full-circle throwback. Social media lit up with comparisons to the old days of hip-hop hustle, when artists would press up CDs and slang them hand-to-hand just to get noticed.

“Cardi really selling CDs on the block like it’s 2002,” one fan tweeted. Another wrote, “This is why she always gon’ win, she know how to connect with the people.”

It’s been seven years since Invasion of Privacy. The Grammy-winning debut made Cardi a global star and delivered timeless hits like “Bodak Yellow.” The pressure for her sophomore album has been sky-high. Instead of playing it safe, she’s flipping the script with a rollout that’s unpredictable.
