Boxing champion Claressa Shields is embracing her softer side as she opens up about her relationship with rapper Papoose.
In an Instagram Live session, the undefeated boxing star shared her love for Papoose, praising his unwavering support and their deep connection.
“I love him, I love having his support. His support is very different from what I’ve had in the past. How he speaks to me is very different,” Shields expressed, stressing the powerful impact Papoose has had on her life.
Shields described Papoose as her best friend, someone she can confide in about anything. “Pap is like my best friend. I talk to him about everything. We do have a great connection, and he understands me,” she shared. Their bond, she explained, is built on mutual respect and a shared sense of purpose.
Claressa Shields and Papoose’s relationship went viral late last year when accusations emerged suggesting that the rapper had been cheating on his wife, Remy Ma. This leak was initiated by Remy Ma, who revealed the relationship by disclosing text message exchanges between Shields and Papoose. This situation ignited intense drama online, with all three individuals arguing and Shields even proposing to fight Remy in the ring.
Despite the backlash, Shields and Papoose have maintained their relationship, with him even walking her to her fights and rapping some of his hit songs.
During the recent Instagram Live, Shields revealed that she is open about her relationship, but she also values keeping certain aspects of their love life private.
“I wanted to keep him all to myself,” she admitted. “I don’t mind people knowing we are together, but I like to enjoy us together without the eyes of other people having to judge.”
Shields also spoke about their charming viral incident where Pap quickly jumped in to tie her boots before she got into the boxing ring. “Ain’t nobody tell him to tie my g*n boot either,” she joked, but he had to make sure it was laced “right” for his queen.
“He definitely deserves the best, and I am the best,” she added.
Even though Remy and Papoose are still officially married, she has begun a new relationship with battle rapper Eazy The Block Captain.
