Flint’s own Claressa Shields, the self-proclaimed “G.W.O.A.T.” (Greatest Woman of All Time), is gearing up to defend her undefeated record and add another championship title to her illustrious boxing career.
The undisputed two-division champion will step into the ring on Feb. 2 at the Dort Financial Center in Michigan, facing fellow undefeated boxer Danielle Perkins. The highly anticipated match will air live on DAZN.
Shields’ Impressive Legacy

Shields, with a flawless 15-0 record, has dominated boxing since capturing two Olympic gold medals.
In July 2024, she solidified her heavyweight dominance by knocking out Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse in just two rounds to claim another belt.

Known for her confident persona and fierce fighting style, Shields has successfully navigated weight classes, securing gold at super welterweight, middleweight, super middleweight, and now heavyweight.
Standing at 5’8”, Shields faces a height disadvantage against Perkins, who towers at 5’11”. Yet, Shields remains unfazed.
“She is fighting against the best,” Shields stated. “If she thinks her size and weight alone will win her the fight, she’s in for a rude awakening.”
The Challenger: Danielle Perkins

Perkins, with a record of 5-0, has made a powerful return to boxing after a two-year hiatus, winning her last two bouts by knockout.
A former basketball player at St. John’s University and a two-time World Championship medalist, Perkins brings athleticism and power to the ring.
“If it’s going to be a dogfight, then so far, there’s going to be two dogs, and you’re not going to know who’s who,” Perkins said, signaling her readiness for a battle against the champion.
Looking Beyond the Fight
Shields is already eyeing future challenges. In a bold move, she recently issued a callout to Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, adding intrigue to her post-Feb. 2 aspirations.
This Michigan showdown promises to be a clash of champions, with Shields aiming to extend her undefeated streak and Perkins determined to cement her own legacy in the boxing world.
