The legal drama between Teyana Taylor and her ex-husband, Iman Shumpert, is getting messy. The singer and actress has been ordered to pay the basketball player $70,000 in legal fees after being found in contempt of court.

The exes, who were married from 2016 to 2023, both accused each other of violating the terms of their 2024 divorce judgment. According to Us Weekly, a judge issued a final verdict on August 5, finding that Taylor willfully violated their divorce judgment by disclosing details of it in an Instagram video back in March.

The documents read, “The court finds (Taylor) in violation of the Final Judgment and Decree of Divorce and is in willful contempt.” As a result, the 34-year-old was ordered to pay Shumpert’s lawyer $70,000 in legal fees, which had to be paid in full within two weeks.

On the other hand, the judge denied Taylor’s request to find the sportsman in contempt of court, insisting that she had failed to “present sufficient evidence” to back up her claim that he leaked details about their divorce judgment to the media. “It appears Taylor and her counsel failed to engage in even a minimal amount of diligence to determine whether her claim of contempt had any factual support at all before the petition was filed,” the order read.

The judge also denied her request that Shumpert pay her legal fees. In addition, Shumpert’s claim that Taylor was in contempt of court for allegedly violating their parenting plan was also denied, with the judge ruling that he failed to prove that she was “willfully contemptuous.”

Taylor and Shumpert share two daughters: Junie, 9, and Rue, 4. Taylor is now dating actor Aaron Pierre.
