Dallas-based singer Jada Arnell is on the mend following a shocking incident during her autograph session at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
ShineMyCrown.Com reported previously that as Arnell signed autographs after her performance, a woman in the audience approached and fired at her, striking the singer on stage.
Venue director Curtis King described the incident, saying that he and staff members pursued the shooter outside before notifying police.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 26-year-old Micah Williams, who was apprehended in a nearby hotel lobby. Williams now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and her bond is set at $200,000.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and police have not confirmed if there was any prior connection between Arnell and Williams.
Curtis King shared Arnell’s gratitude toward the venue before the incident occurred, recounting how she expressed appreciation for the safe, supportive platform provided for emerging artists.
Moments later, the joyous evening turned chaotic as Arnell, injured and in pain, called out for help.
Since the incident, Jada Arnell has updated her fans on her recovery through her Instagram account on Nov. 6, thanking everyone for their support.
