Election Day: This Is Where Kamala Harris Will Be As Americans Vote In Historic Election

by Gee NY

In one of the closest presidential races in recent history, Election Day 2024 has arrived with Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, and former President Donald Trump, a Republican, locked in a near-tie.

According to a new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll released Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, both candidates have equal support among registered voters at 49% each, with Harris holding a slight edge among likely voters, leading 51% to 47%—though still within the margin of error.

Election enthusiasm remains high, with more than 82 million Americans having already cast their ballots, according to the University of Florida’s Election Lab.

This early turnout is significant, especially as it reflects over half of the 160 million votes cast in the record-setting 2020 election.

For Harris, Election Day marks a potentially historic moment.

The vice president is in Washington, D.C., and will spend the evening at Howard University, her alma mater and one of the nation’s leading historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Should she win, Harris would make history as the first U.S. president to graduate from an HBCU.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris’s running mate, will campaign in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with his wife Gwen before joining Harris at Howard University for the election night event.

Meanwhile, Trump is planning to hold his watch party in West Palm Beach, Florida, departing from his previous election night events at Mar-a-Lago and hosting supporters at a convention center in the area.

As Americans head to the polls, the nation awaits the outcome of a race that could set new records for voter turnout and redefine political history.
