Erykah Badu is once again a Grammy winner. At the 2025 Grammy Awards, the neo-soul icon took home Best Melodic Rap Performance for her feature on Rapsody’s track “3:AM.”

The win marks Badu’s first Grammy in over 20 years and brings her total to five career Grammys.

Meanwhile, the award was a historic moment for Rapsody, who secured her first-ever Grammy. The rapper reflected on the milestone in an Instagram post, writing:

“So much to feel. So many loved ones to thank. Not enough words to articulate it all. It’s been a long time coming. Not validation. Affirmation. A welcoming into a prestigious village.”

Erykah Badu’s Grammy Legacy

Badu’s previous Grammy win dates back to 2003, when she earned Best R&B Song for “Love Of My Life (An Ode To Hip Hop)” with Common.

Her Grammy journey began in 1998, when she won Best R&B Album for her debut album Baduizm and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for the hit single “On & On.”

She later secured another win in 2000 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group with The Roots’ “You Got Me.”

“3:AM” & Rapsody’s Vision

“3:AM” is a standout track from Rapsody’s fourth album, Please Don’t Cry, released on May 17, 2024, via Jamla/Roc Nation. Featuring jazz-infused production, the song was crafted with raw emotion, as Rapsody explained in a past interview.

Reflecting on her collaboration with Badu, Rapsody described it as a “dream come true.” She told Billboard:

“She’s someone I’ve always admired and looked up to. She’s always been graceful and supportive throughout my whole career.”

With this win, Badu continues to solidify her impact on music, proving that her artistry remains timeless.
