Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reality star Lisa Rinna shocked fans when she announced that she was leaving the show after its 12th season, and now her fellow castmate Garcelle Beauvais is speaking up about what she really thinks about her leaving.
“I think change is good,” Garcelle told E! News. “Lisa came on the show, she did a good job, she left her mark. But I also think change is good. No Housewife is bigger than the franchise.”
The 56-year-old Haitian beauty was a late bloomer to the franchise but made her mark while filming alongside other returning co-stars Kyle Richards, Erika Jayne, Sutton Stracke, Crystal Kung Minkoff and Dorit Kemsley. And although she said she loves being part of the show, she’s hoping season 13 will be less dramatic.
“It really feels fresh and fun,” she said. “We’ll always have drama because we’re all independent, strong-minded women, but let’s have fun. It got a little too dark last season.”
Her “a little too dark” reference stems from Rinna’s toxic feud with Kathy Hilton following a huge blowup and meltdown during a trip to Aspen. It would end with Rinna leaving the show after serving as a housewife for eight seasons.
After walking away from the post, Rinna said that the show would be boring without her, leading Beauvais to respond.
“If she left on her own, why does she care what we’re doing? Just move on.”
When asked who she would like to see replace Rinna, she seconded a suggestion from a colleague, who said Chrissy Teigen would be a great addition to the team.
“I second that!” she gushed. “She could cook for us, make us laugh and put us in our place.”
Beauvais is currently on a press run to promote her new film, Black Girl Missing, which she stars in and executive produced as part of Lifetime’s Stop Violence Against Women campaign.
