This week, an Instagram model accused Los Angeles Lakers center DeAndre Ayton’s security team of leaving her stranded after she refused his sexual advances.
The viral story about NBA player Deandre Ayton and an Instagram model has taken a major turn. What started as a shocking accusation has been clarified, and it serves as a perfect example of how quickly things can become distorted on the internet.
The woman, known online as @CaribbeanCurlss, had the internet in a frenzy after she posted a cryptic Instagram story claiming, “@deandreayton security left me outside in the middle of nowhere in Turks and Caicos bc I won’t have sex with him.”
Social media lit up almost immediately. With Ayton’s name attached and the timing suspicious, many jumped to the conclusion that the athlete himself was involved in the alleged abandonment. But just as fast as the narrative spread, the model followed up to explain what really happened, or at least her version of it.
According to @CaribbeanCurlss, she was in Turks and Caicos for a group party where Ayton also happened to be. She made it clear that she wasn’t flown out by him, wasn’t there as a “plus one,” and had zero private interaction with the Lakers player.
The night took a turn when her friends got too drunk to leave with her. Ayton, seeing the situation, reportedly arranged for his local security driver to take her back safely. However, during the ride, things took a strange turn.
She claims he made unwanted sexual advances toward her. And when she refused? That’s when he allegedly kicked her out of the vehicle and left her “in the middle of nowhere” while she was intoxicated.
Feeling unsafe and vulnerable, she posted the original story tagging Ayton, not because he was involved, she said, but because she wanted people to know where she had last been seen in case something happened to her. That post quickly went viral, sparking rumors that the NBA baller had personally mistreated her.
But in her follow-up, she was crystal clear:
“Deandre had nothing to do with this. It was HIS SECURITY/DRIVER. DEANDRE WAS NOT PRESENT AT ANY GIVEN TIME.”

So why mention Ayton at all? She admitted she was scared. In the moment, her priority was safety, not public perception.
To be fair, there’s been no official statement from Ayton. No legal action. No confirmed identity of the driver involved. And while CaribbeanCurlss continues to post her hair and beauty content on Instagram, many are still side-eyeing the whole situation.
