Keke Palmer has signed on to join the cast of Disney+ series ‘The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder.

According to Deadline, Palmer will play the role of Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins, a 14-year-old activist who relentlessly marches to the beat of her own drum.

The show is currently in production.

The news comes the same week Palmer announced that she would be hosting the 2020 VMAs.

Last month, the ‘Pimp’ actress spoke out against President Donald Trump.

“I think President Trump plays into it too. He’s inciting a race war. His craziness is inspiring us to just really get him the f*ck out!,” Palmer told Cosmopolitan magazine. “It’s like we needed somebody who riled us up so much for us to be activated to the point of saying, “Oh, hell no. I can’t let this guy continue. I have to do something. I have to find a way to let my voice be heard and to let people know that I’m not with this.”

Palmer added that she thinks Trump is trying to start a race war.

“I don’t know if you on social media, because the news don’t tell you everything, but you have to pay attention to what’s going on. … We have a president that’s trying to incite a race war. And when the borders are closed, we can’t leave. You have people in here that need your help. This is when you and y’all stand together with the community, with society, to stop … the governmental oppression. Period. We need you,” she implored.

Despite being actively vocal and hands-on with the Black Lives Matter movement, Palmer still refuses to own the title of “activist” — although her new Disney+ role seems very fitting.
