Former viral star Lil Sharday’, real name Sharday Bakare, was recently arrested and charged with first-degree murder after her boyfriend allegedly beat her child to death in 2023.
On September 4, the Memphis Police Department responded to the 2600 block of Margot Street in Memphis. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2-year-old boy who was unresponsive and showing signs of trauma.
Police claim he was not breathing, was bleeding from the mouth, and had bruises all over his body.
The child was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.
Anthony Andrews, Bakare’s boyfriend at the time, was arrested right after the incident and charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect.
Anthony Andrews, 22, was arrested for the boy’s murder after admitting to hitting the toddler “seven to eight times” in the back, face, and buttocks with a braided dog toy.
He also stated he smacked the child in the chest and shoved him into a corner.
At the time of the incident, Bakare said that Andrews was watching her son while she slept. She told police that she saw her son in good health Sunday night before going to bed.
Through investigation, it was discovered that Anthony was Sharday’s boyfriend, not the child’s father. He was charged with first-degree murder.
Andrews was indicted on May 9 for aggravated child abuse and first-degree murder.
On May 14, the US Marshals issued an arrest warrant for Sharday Bakare on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child neglect, and aggravated child abuse.
According to reports, Bakare was later discovered in Texas, and the North Texas Fugitive Task Force in Dallas received investigative leads.
On Monday, June 17, Bakare was found at a home in Glenn Heights, Texas. She was apprehended without incident by US Marshals and is now awaiting extradition back to Tennessee.
