Megan Thee Stallion celebrated her 27th birthday by honoring her parents with the launch of her new foundation.
According to the official website, “the mission of the Pete and Thomas Foundation is to catalyze resources to effect meaningful and positive change in the lives of women and children, senior citizens, and underserved communities in Houston, TX and across the globe.”
The foundation will focus on education, housing, health and wellness. The foundation is named after her parents, Holly Thomas and Joseph Pete Jr.
“Launching the Pete and Thomas Foundation is easily one of the most significant endeavors that I’ll ever be part of in my career,” Megan said in a statement. “My family raised me to help others and give back, so I’m incredibly proud to be in a position to accomplish that goal. I have a responsibility to use my platform to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who may not have access to resources and support services.”
Meg’s nonprofit will provide scholarships, school supplies and resources to support students in vulnerable communities. The foundation will also tackle housing issues for the elderly, single mothers and families impacted by financial emergencies and natural disasters and offer support in areas of cancer care, mental health and food insecurity.
After the rapper’s December graduation, she told Rolling Stone about her mission to give back to her community.
“I’m still going to open up these assisted living facilities and I definitely want to hire new college graduates,” she said. “Nobody ever wants to hire you fresh out of college. They feel like you have no experience, so I want to create a place where you can get experience.”
