Ena Jones, a dedicated African American mother and the CEO of Roots & Vine Produce and Cafe, is facing a setback in her entrepreneurial journey.

This is after the city of Chicago denied her small business funding. Jones, along with a network of farmers, envisioned Roots & Vine as an innovative and community-oriented grocery chain that prioritizes locally sourced produce and sustainable food practices.

However, the company’s plans for expansion and the establishment of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility have been delayed due to the denial of funding.

Roots & Vine Produce and Cafe, known for its commitment to empowering minority-owned farms and suppliers, had anticipated opening new locations to meet the increasing demand from their enthusiastic customer base.

Unfortunately, the denial of the small business grant opportunity has left them in a financial bind, prompting Jones to launch a GoFundMe campaign to raise $1,250,000 for completing renovations and establishing the manufacturing facility.

Despite the setback, Jones remains determined to bring the vision of Roots & Vine to fruition. The funds raised through the campaign will not only finalize the renovations of the new locations but also enable the production of a line of culturally relevant food products.

This initiative aims to bolster the local economy, promote job creation, and enhance accessibility to fresh produce and wholesome meal options in underserved communities.

Expressing her gratitude to the community, Jones stated:

“We are incredibly grateful for the support and love we have received thus far. Despite the setback, we remain committed to providing fresh, sustainably sourced produce and empowering our community.”

Roots & Vine Produce and Cafe invites individuals and organizations to contribute to their GoFundMe campaign, emphasizing that every donation, regardless of size, will make a significant impact. Contributors will be recognized on the company’s website and social media platforms as a token of appreciation.
