Sexyy Red, a rising star who had previously declared her allegiance to rival rapper Nicki Minaj, has now unexpectedly teamed up with hip-hop sensation Cardi B.
Red brought in the original Barbie of rap, Nicki Minaj, for the song’s remix following the explosive success of her viral single “Pound Town.”
Minaj had kind words for Sexyy last May, saying on Instagram Live: “This is only the f–king beginning for her. This is what I told her. Yo, people like you. People like what you have to say; they like your sound. So, make sure a whole bunch of people aren’t coming around trying to help you do this and help you do that.”
The news was revealed on social media, where Sexxy Red posted a sneak peek at her next project with Cardi B.
She posted a photo from the studio with one of her team members holding a markerboard with a list of her projects. Industry insiders quickly noticed the cryptic post, which features a collaboration with Cardi B.
“Sport ft Cardi B,” the board read.
Soon after the post went viral, fans, including Barbz and hotties, couldn’t help but point out the potential implications of this unexpected alliance for the genre’s future.
And even though Sexyy Red promptly shared a message to take balm of herself, fans believe she deliberately posted it just to be messy.
Sexyy Red wrote, “I ain’t write that.’
