Michelle Adepoju Gets Coveted Spot On 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 For Elevating African Craftsmanship In Luxury Fashion

Michelle Adepoju didn’t always dream of launching a fashion empire. But a life-changing trip to West Africa after college turned her childhood hobby into a mission—and eventually, a global luxury brand.

Now, the London-born designer is being recognized for her impact with a prestigious spot on the 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list in the Art & Culture category.

Adepoju, 29, is the founder of Kílẹ̀ńtàr, a luxury womenswear label she launched in 2019 that fuses contemporary fashion with traditional African craftsmanship.

From flowing gowns to statement swimwear and jewelry, each Kílẹ̀ńtàr piece is handcrafted by a network of over 40 artisans across Africa.

Raised in a Nigerian household in the U.K., Adepoju grew up reworking thrifted clothes into original designs. But it wasn’t until she returned to her cultural roots in West Africa that she saw the opportunity to spotlight African artistry in high fashion.

“Kílẹ̀ńtàr is so important for me because when we think of luxury, we often think of the Chanels or the Hermès’,” she told Forbes. “We’re changing that narrative and putting African craftsmanship on the map for luxury fashion.”

Her striking designs have caught the eyes of some of the world’s most stylish women, including Tracee Ellis Ross, Naomi Osaka, and Victoria Monét.

And now, with the Forbes honor, Adepoju’s name is being etched alongside Europe’s most promising young creatives.

This year’s Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list celebrates entrepreneurs and visionaries who are drawing from their roots to shape the future. From food to fine art, the honorees—like Adepoju—are using heritage as a source of innovation.
