A sweet story Mindy Kaling told about an exchange she had with her daughter is giving America all the feels.
Last Thursday, Kaling hosted “An Evening with the Presidents” at New York’s Radio City Hall. During the event, she shared with her two children, Spencer, 3, and Katherine, 5, that she would be supporting Joe Biden’s reelection campaign.
“Not just because I want them to have reproductive rights and drinkable water but also, a true story — one time when my daughter was 2 years old, she saw Kamala Harris on TV, and she thought it was me.”
She continued while trying to contain laughter: “I have never felt so hot or that my daughter was being a little bit racist … it’s fine.”
Last month, Kaling shared with WSJ Magazine how being a mom changed her view on life.
“It’s really rewarding, being a mom and spending time with these two people who look like me,” she said. “I love them, and they’re so funny. In terms of my career, I’m a single mom, I’m the breadwinner in the house.”
She continued: “So there’s a lot of panic that comes with that, the buck stops with me, I have to earn money for them. Having kids is everything — wanting to be a good role model and wanting to produce content that doesn’t embarrass them and makes them proud is another layer to my life and a complication that I welcome.”
During Thanksgiving festivities last year, the 44-year-old actress and comedian shared a reel of her two bundles of joy, in which they looked as happy as can be to explore New York City.
“Seriously needed this trip to New York with the family. I feel like Michael Scott saying this but man this is the most special city,” Kaling captioned the post, referring to Steve Carell’s The Officecharacter.
“The kids saw their first Broadway show, skated at @wollmanrink, had drippy hot cheese at the Bryant Park holiday fair, went on the subway, Central Park carousel, ate Lilac chocolates, and even somehow made public bathroom trips fun. Thanks New York!”
