Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’s Momma Dee is sustaining injuries after being involved in a hit-and-run in Atlanta Wednesday, reports have confirmed.
According to TMZ, the mother of Lil Scrappy was parked alongside a busy road when another driver struck her as she attempted to exit her vehicle. No suspects have been named but she did say that the person was driving a black Ford Sedan.
In video released to the public, the 59-year-old Brooklyn native is seen being treated for injuries in the back of an ambulance. Photos also show several bruises on her arm.
An investigation is underway.
It was just recently when Momma Dee, born Deborah Bryant, was caught up in controversy after the airing of a recent L&HH episode. In one scene, she aired out her son’s personal laundry, suggesting that his ex, Diamond, may be pregnant without his knowledge.
Many fans took to Twitter to express their displeasure about how she handled the situation.
“Momma Dee is good for accidentally spilling tea about Scrappy personal business,” one fan tweeted. “Now I don’t condone what he’s doing bc he is still married. But Momma Dee c’mon now…Are you doing this on purpose so Bam can find out?”
In 1996, Dee was left immobile for three years after being involved in a car accident that left her in a wheelchair. Because of the disability, she became a pimp and drug dealer and ran a popular brothel for nearly ten years under the name “Lady Dee.”
Before then, she gave birth to Lil Scrappy in 1984. Born Darryl Raynard Richardson III, the No Problem star would end up becoming one of Atlanta’s biggest rap sensations after the release of his popular debut album, The King of Crunk & BME Recordings Present: Trillville & Lil Scrappy. Scrappy is one of the first to sign to Lil Jon’s BME Recordings and is considered one of the South’s founders of what is now known as trap music
