Monique Samuels Opens Up About Her Divorce: ‘No Alimony, No Child Support’

by Gee NY

Former Real Housewives of Potomac star Monique Samuels has shed light on the terms of her divorce from ex-NFL player Chris Samuels, revealing that she receives neither alimony nor child support following their split after 11 years of marriage.

Appearing on the Dear Future Wifey podcast, Monique, 41, shared that the couple’s prenuptial agreement played a central role in their financial arrangements post-divorce.

The agreement, she explained, was designed to reflect her earnings as Chris’s business manager rather than providing long-term financial security.

“We had a prenup, and the intention behind it was, ‘I don’t ever want you thinking I want what you have,’” Monique said during the December 4 episode. “The agreement covered what my salary would have been if I’d continued working, but it didn’t account for our children.”

Monique and Chris, 47, share three kids—Christopher, Milani, and Chase—but child support was also left out of the agreement.

“I could have gone after full custody or battled for child support,” Monique noted, “but that’s not why I was here. That’s not the person I am.”

Instead, Monique walked away with a single lump-sum payment, which she used to purchase a home for herself and her children.

“I wanted my kids to have their own rooms and feel like this new house is still their home,” she explained.

Reflecting on the decision to forgo additional financial support, Monique admitted, “It was probably stupid,” but she stands by her principles.

Monique’s candid revelations have sparked conversation among fans, with some applauding her independence and others questioning the long-term impact of the prenuptial terms.

The former reality star joined The Real Housewives of Potomac in its second season and remained a fan favorite through season five before stepping away from the show.
