Rapper Kash Doll has announced a major change: she’s officially dropping the “Doll” from her name. The decision marks a significant shift for the artist as she enters a new chapter in her career.
However, rather than abandoning the name entirely, she has decided to use it as a middle name for her baby girl, Klarity.
Kash has also had a wild ride this year. She had her second child in June, but it strained her relationship with her children’s father, rapper Tracy T.
Kash Doll and Tracy T split up just weeks after welcoming their second child.
On July 22, the Detriot native announced that she is single. “”I’m single,” she wrote. “IDGAF about y’all saying I have two kids by him, now. I’m just a baby mama,” she wrote. “Blah, blah, blah… I’m not dealing with just anything to keep my family together.”
She continued: “I’m not sorry. As women, we should always put ourselves first. It’s not just about men; it’s about everything. We bring so much to the table.”
“People keep talking about a ring and getting married, but it doesn’t change anything. “It just makes it harder to break up with someone,” she said.
Now, Kash Doll is about to embark on a new chapter in her life and wants to rebrand to reflect this.
In an interview on the Actnormalpod podcast, Kash Doll opened up about her decision and the legacy she’s handing down to her daughter.
The “Ice Me Out” rapper explained that this change reflects her growth as an artist and a woman. She’s moving away from the “Doll” label, which has become common in the music industry and, according to her, limits her. “I’ve got two kids now; I don’t want to be called a f**king doll,” she said, laughing but with a touch of seriousness. “There are so many dolls out there now. I never liked it to begin with, but it’s time to grow out of it.”
Kash Doll has often expressed a desire to stand out, and adopting the name “Kash” is her way of doing so. She clarified, “I did not come out as Kash Minaj or Kardi C. I came out as Kash Doll, but now that everyone is following the ‘Doll’ trend, it puts me in a box that I don’t want to be in anymore.”
“Her middle name is Doll. So I’m passing that legacy down to her,” she shared, referring to her daughter Klarity. “She can have all that ‘Doll’ [stuff]. I’m ready to be the grown a** boss b*tch that I am.”
Kash Doll isn’t putting the “Doll” persona behind him without one final tribute. She revealed that her next project, The Last Doll, will be her farewell to the moniker. This project will be her final “Doll” moment.
