by Gee NY

Morgan Price of Fisk University has cemented her place in history, becoming the first gymnast representing a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to earn a perfect 10 in women’s collegiate gymnastics.

Price’s flawless bar routine at a tri-meet hosted by Temple University on Saturday electrified the competition and set a new benchmark for HBCU gymnastics.

A Perfect Performance

Competing in the third rotation, Price delivered an impeccable bar routine, executing crisp skills and sticking her signature full-twisting double-back dismount to perfection.

The crowd erupted in cheers as the judges confirmed what was undeniable—a perfect 10.0.

The Fisk Women’s Gymnastics team, in just its second season of competition, erupted in celebration as Price’s score flashed.

This monumental moment is not only a personal triumph for Price but a landmark achievement for Fisk University and HBCU gymnastics as a whole.

Dominating the Competition

Price didn’t stop at making history on bars. She went on to deliver a career-best meet, winning every event except beam and securing a staggering all-around score of 39.500.

Her total outpaced the second-place competitor by nearly a full point—an extraordinary margin in collegiate gymnastics. With this dominant performance, Price showcased why she is one of the nation’s rising stars in the sport.

A Trailblazer for HBCU Gymnastics

Since the launch of Fisk’s gymnastics program in 2023, the team has made waves as the first-ever HBCU to compete at the NCAA level in women’s gymnastics.

Price’s historic perfect score is as an inspiration for aspiring gymnasts at HBCUs and beyond, proving that excellence knows no boundaries.
