Serena Williams dressed as a literal trophy in a gilded gown at the 2024 Met Gala.
The retired tennis superstar brought her fashion A-game to the star-studded 2024 Met Gala, which was held on Monday at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Serena Williams has always celebrated the first Monday in May with a number of memorable outfits over the years, including a striking ombré feather cape and jumpsuit in 2021 and a floor-length black gown last year.
Earlier in March 2012, fans focused on Serena Williams’s face, raising the question of whether the Michigan native had undergone plastic surgery.
Williams attended the Off-White Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show on February 29, 2024, in Paris, France, as part of Paris Fashion Week.
And critics quickly zoned in on her face during an interview—the iconic Atlethe’s strange facial features, which some said resembled a “lion.”
Others pointed out that the bizarre effect could have come from the makeup artist’s brush, not a plastic surgeon’s knife.
Last night in New York City, the tennis champion arrived dazzling at the 2024 Met Gala.
To interpret this year’s Met Gala “Garden of Time” dress code, Serena Williams looked stunning in a metallic gold Balenciaga gown with a dramatic train.
For the occasion, the mother of two was a vision in gold, donning a one-shoulder metallic gown by Balenciaga. The dress, featuring a sash that transformed into a dramatic train, perfectly interprets this year’s Met Gala’ Garden of Time’ dress code.
This time, Williams and Balenciaga worked together to create a dress modeled after Look 52 from the house’s 51st couture collection, which was shown in 2022 and featured items from the Balenciaga archives.
Kesha McLeod styled Williams, who paired her look with Messika jewelry and black gloves. She was dressed according to “The Garden of Time” code, and her watch was an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.
Williams’s long, blond hair was accessorized by hairstylist Angela Meadows with a gilded flower hairpiece from Lelet, NY.
Renny Vasquez, a makeup artist, gravitated towards WYN, the company Williams founded earlier this year when it came to beauty. The two decided on a look that included a matte lip and shimmery eyes.
Unfortunately, fans were not impressed with the 150-hour-crafted couture piece made from 25 meters of gold foil-laminated taffeta sourced from Italy.
“Baby, Not a Ferrero Rocher 🤦🏽♀️,” a fan wrote in disbelief.
“Her team fails her every time. Smh,” another comment read.
Another fan added, “You know what, somebody said this morning… “I know Serena gon piss me off today”… I didn’t quite know what that meant until this moment 😫😂😂😂😂.”
